Meet our Oral Surgeons

Meet 

Dr. David Parmer, DDS, MD





Dr. Parmer, grew up in the west Texas town of Levelland and attended Texas Tech University. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1991.  After finishing dental school, he served as a dentist in the US Air Force for three years.  His first year, he completed a general dental residency at Langley AFB in Virginia.  His last two years, he served as a general dentist at Dyess AFB in Abilene.


Dr. Parmer then returned to San Antonio for his oral & maxillofacial surgery training.  He received his Doctor of Medicine at UTHSC-SA in 1997.    He then completed his general surgery internship at University Hospital and his oral & maxillofacial residency at UTHSC-SA.


Dr. Parmer is the past President of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.  A diplomate (board certified) of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. 


He is also a member of the Fort Worth District Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. 


Dr. Parmer contributes to programs for the underprivileged, including the Save A Smile program, Texas Dentists for Healthy Smiles, and Texas Donated Dental Services.  He has participated in several medical missions to Mexico.


Dr. David Parmer is married to Dr. Fariba Parmer, who is an optometrist. He spends his free time with their twins, Layli and Evan.


Meet 

Dr. James Macholl, DDS, MD




Dr. Macholl was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up in the small town of Hubertus, Wisconsin.  He graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1991. After graduation, Dr. Macholl joined the United States Army.  


His first assignment was as a resident in general dentistry at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  This was followed by three years of service in Mannheim, Germany. Dr. Macholl was selected by the Army for oral surgery training and sent to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.  There, he received his Doctor of Medicine and completed an internship in general surgery.   Dr. Macholl finished his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2001.


Since finishing his residency, Dr. James Macholl has been assigned to Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois, Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.  Dr. Macholl also spent one year training in a cosmetic surgery fellowship.  He retired as a Colonel from the US Army with more than 23 years of service.  He spent the last eight years of his military career involved in the care of service members wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.


Dr. Macholl is a diplomate (board certified) of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.


Dr. Macholl joined Alliance Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the summer of 2014.  He spends his free time, with his wife and their 4 fur- babies,  entertaining family and friends.  Along with his wife, Dr. Macholl works with local charities and travels on medical mission trips within the Central American region.


Meet 

Dr. Timothy A. Lew, DDS



Dr. Lew was born in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and grew up all over the United States and abroad while his father proudly served in the U.S. Army. 


Dr. Lew graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Dallas with a double major in Biology and Business Administration. Shortly thereafter, he attended dental school at Columbia University in New York City. During dental school, Dr. Lew was awarded a Health Professions Scholarship by the U.S. Army and was selected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.


Dr. Lew’s surgical training took place at San Antonio Military Medical Center, which is one of the U.S. Army’s premier medical centers dealing with Level I trauma, burn and combat injuries. During his residency, Dr. Lew participated in multiple research projects at the Institute of Surgical Research and is a Major General Joseph L. Bernier Research Award recipient.


After finishing his residency, Dr. Lew was assigned to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where he worked with Dr. Macholl taking care of America's wounded warriors from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Lew later went back to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX to train residents. 


After leaving the military, Dr. Lew worked in private practice in Tucson, AZ. While practicing in Tucson, he took on a new challenge and graduated from University of Arizona with a Master in Business Administration in 2018. Dr. Lew is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Board Certified). 


Dr. Lew joined Alliance Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the spring of 2021.  He spends his free time, with his wife Connie and their three fur-babies, traveling, and entertaining family and friends.

In addition to Dr. Macholl and Dr. Parmer, Alliance Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is comprised of a wonderful, caring staff of professionals that work hard to make your experience as comfortable as possible. From the front desk to the surgery assistants, everyone does their part to make things run smooth, and we're proud of the people we have on staff here.
